NOTES FOR CLASS:

Step one:
Find pictures of big and small flowers and leaves for inspiration.

Step two:
Draw only the flowers as basic shapes onto a big circle. Use only basic shapes like circles, triangles, squares, ovals, and rectangles at this stage. Create a big flower and big leaves fading out to smaller ones.

Step three:
Study your flower pictures carefully and add detail to your shapes to transform them into flowers and leaves.

Step four:
Using watercolours, paint the background with a wet-on-wet paint technique. Keep your colours light at this stage.

Step five:
Ensure the background is dry. Then, using watercolours, paint the background again with a wet-on-dry paint technique. Maintain light colours at this stage.

Step six:
Ensure previous layers are dry. Paint additional layers from the background to the foreground using wet-on-dry and dry-on-dry techniques. Your colours should be darker in these layers.

Step seven:
Paint the last dark areas and add your final light layers here and there using a strong white watercolour paint or white acrylic paint.
